What’s an everyday athlete? Everyday athletes are regular people doing active stuff as part of their daily routine. Some “events” could include:
- dead-lift a toddler or laundry basket
- 50-meter sprint to catch the bus
- pitch a game of fetch for the dog
- pushing a stroller or grocery cart
- besting your w.p.m on a last-minute essay
- a friendly game of tug-of-war
All of our daily activities can leave us at risk of a “sports” injury. Regardless of how the injury occurred, it will still benefit from some extra care. Add acupuncture to your healing regime to speed up your return to activity.
Acupuncture for Injury Recovery
We’re here to help. Each new injury gets a thorough assessment to determine the nature and scope of the problem. Some of the things we do during the assessment include a thorough history asking about how and when the injury occurred, what makes it feel better or worse, what other therapies you tried, and how much it is affecting your life. We will also do a physical assessment that includes checking your range of motion and the strength of the affected muscles.
Traditional Chinese Medicine adds another layer of understanding of how the body works. It provides a framework for determining how or why your body might have been susceptible to injury and gives a place to begin healing from.
After the assessment, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that you can follow. Your treatment plan may include acupuncture, gua sha, cupping, stretches, and eventually strengthening exercises. You may also receive a referral to one of our athletic therapists or massage therapists.

We work to determine what the injury is and choose acupuncture treatments that will kick-start the healing process to reduce pain and inflammation. Some of the conditions we can help with include:
